Monday Medley: Something Different for Summer Time


It's almost time to trade lesson plans for personal passions. Before you shut down your laptop and head out for the summer, don't forget to pack your ultimate digital beach bag: free access to Sora, Feature Films for Education, Kanopy, Biblio+, and Comics Plus for all your vacation reading, movie marathons, and passion projects!


 

  • Do you want to borrow best-selling eBooks, Audiobooks, and digital magazines for free? Students, faculty, and staff can access titles from Sora, the student reading app. 

Sora is OverDrive Education’s K–12 student reading app.You may have heard of OverDrive (or its simpler to use “cousin” Libby)  
because it is a widely used platform for borrowing eBooks and AudioBooks
from the public library. 
Go to soraapp.com and enter setup code: masslibma* (bottom of Sora page)
then select North Reading High School. Sign in with Google using
your school email address. Add the public library to be able to borrow
additional titles by clicking on your profile-top right corner. Click on the blue
+add Library button and add Merrimack Valley Library Consortium. If you have
a Boston Public Library eCard add that as well.
For future visits sign in with Google using your school email address.   
Go to soraapp.com (or open the Sora app on your phone)
Click on the green “My school is MLS Commonwealth eBook Collection” button  

   

For Mobile Devices, download the Sora app.

(You do not need to download anything to use Sora on your school issued Laptop or
Chromebook, just go to soraapp.com and sign in)

Browse the Explore tab and borrow an eBook,  AudioBook, or Digital Magazine.
Your title will open so you can start reading right away. Read and listen from any device: Chromebooks, tablets, laptops, desktops,  and phones.If you want to borrow a title from the public library note that you will need to signin twice with your school email address to borrow the eBook or Audiobook.Visit help.soraapp.com with questionsHave additional questions or need help locating something??Email me: ksmith@nrpsk12.org

  • Are you interested in nurturing some of your personal interests this summer?Check out Boston Public Library's on demand collection of movies and documentaries from Kanopy.  Discover a variety of content from PBS. Explore the Great Courses. (Course offerings include cooking, travel, arts & culture, literature, learning a new language, and more.)  Looking for titles to honor America's 250th? Kanopy has you covered with a broad collection of content: Discover America250. Looking to entertain your kids (or grandkids!) Kanopy Kids is an entire section devoted to movies and shows for kids and families. 

  • Find more streaming films and television from Biblio+ including an International Films Showcase collection, content from the BBC, Life Long Learning titles, and a collection for World Cup Fever. This content is free with your Boston Public Library eCard. Note that this services contains content for a variety of ages. Some content is not appropriate for children.
